Race Report St Albans Park Run Saturday 17th May by John Thorpe

Dylan, my son-in-law, said he was going to do this run on Saturday so I thought I would tag along – although I feared I would probably finish last.

It was a super, warm, sunny spring morning and the course went out along a path, three laps of a lake and then back in one part of the huge and most beautiful Verulam Park.
Dylan came 11th overall out of 292 in a PB of 18.27 and, after pushing all I could I finished in 31.44 which unfortunately was just 9 secs off my PB; but I had the consolation of being 1st in my age category VM70-74 and having 52 runners behind me. Nice morning’s run.
With a fairly narrow path most of the way, the course was pretty crowded with 292 runners. Didn’t bother me much but it must have been a bit tricky for the runners at the front who had to lap other runners for nearly all the second and third laps of the lake. But I didn’t hear any complaints and everyone was all smiles at the end
