East Kent Relays 2015

Well it is that time of year again for the East Kent Summer Relays. For all you members who do not know, every year we take part in the Summer Relays. These take place every other Tuesday for 5 weeks, against nine other local clubs. The distance will be about 2 to 3 miles per leg, normally about 2.5 miles.

The relay teams are in age group categories as below:

Senior Men, Men’s Vet 40+ have 4 runners per team. Men’s 50+ and Men’s 60+ have 3 runners per team.

Ladies are all 3 per team, Ladies Senior, Ladies V35+ and Ladies 45+.

There will be A & B teams competing. Historically only the A teams have scored points, but this year there will be a B team competition alongside the usual A team one. To score points though, the B team must comprise of athletes who have not scored with an A team on the same night.

All you do is just turn up at the venue 30mins before the start time. Your teams will be arranged in advance by your team captain. DRR will have A & B teams competing. The A teams will consist of our faster runners. Depending on the runners available on the night, B team runners may have to step up to the A team if needed to do so.

DRR would like as many of you as possible to come and take part. It is good fun and a good speed workout. Anybody of any ability can run, so please do not get put off. It is great for team building and all is taken in good spirit. Last year we competed in every relay, winning 3 trophies. We are sure we can do even better this year.

You must be in your DRR Club Vest or T-Shirt.

We hope you can all do at least one relay PLEASE.

Your team captains are Leela for the girls and Martin for the boys.

Please let them Know ASAP if you can run.

12th May – Folkestone (Car Park by the Old Rotunda) – Folkestone Running Club – 7.00pm

26th May – Minnis Bay – Thanet AC – 7.30pm

9th June – Victoria Park – Ashford AC  -7.30pm

23rd June – Samphire Hoe – Dover Road Runners – 7.30pm

7th July – Finals Night – Body & Mind Canterbury – IEK/Canterbury Harriers -7.30pm

 

All times and results will be managed by Martin Burke and his Nice Works team

They will also put all of the results up on the Web (www.nice-work.org.uk).

 

DRR Kindly ask for a one off Donation of £3 per runner, for both A & B teams.
