Canterbury 10 25th January 2015 Report by Angela Parker
Ten Dover Road Runners went to Canterbury and ran the 10 mile race on this glorious day. The sun was out and it was warmer outside than it was in the Chaucer Technology School, the race headquarters. It was the first time in a long time that the weather was kind than it had been in previous years. This was the final race on this route as the new headquarters will be at Barton Court Grammer school. There was a turnout of almost 1,000 runners.
The conditions were good. The temperatures dropped slightly and there was not that much mud as in previous years. The hills on the route still didn’t get any easier as we ran round. The crowds were brilliant along the route and so were the marshals. Full credit to the organisers.
Mark Sluman was the first DRR home in a time of 1:11:47. He finished 5th out of 51 in his age category.
Odette Collard-Woolmer was the first lady to finish in a PB of 1:19:29
The other results are:
Julian Manser – 1:22:12
Claire Thurgate – 1:24:43
Angela Parker – 1:30:59, a PB
Patricia Coleman – 1:32:12
Sylvia Barrett – 1:32:48
Susan Corlett – 1:44:33
Julie Marshall – 1:49:28
John Thorpe – 1:53:32
A good morning’s work done by Dover Road Runners!
