A snapshot of a week in the life of Dover Road Runners -week commencing 1/6/15

Last Wednesday evening saw the return of the Samphire Hoe 5K Summer Series. Dover Road Runners turned out in force with a 15 strong team to tackle the challenging course.

Warren Uden gave a great performance finishing in 4th place overall in a fantastic time of 18.32. New member Sarah Stephenson made her debut run with the club and finishing 1st Lady overall in an excellent time of 21.24. Graham Foote crossed the line in  22.58; Jo Daniels was 3rd Lady overall, first in her age category and in a time of 23.32. Annette Nixon scooped her age category prize in a time of 23.49. Other finishers were: tracy Foote 25.32; Angela Parker 26.42; Sylvia Barrett 27.04; Michele Barnes and Kirsty Harper 28.01; Leon Goldsack 28.59; Alicia Lilley 29.03; Mike Bond 31.17 (1st in age category) and John Thorpe, on his 75th Birthday, gave a remarkable performance, winning his age category prize in a great time of 33.15. Sarah Stephenson; Jo Daniels and Annette Nixon won the Ladies Team prize.

Mark Sluman travelled to Dartford on Saturday to take part in the Parkrun, finishing 1st in his age category in a great time of 21.34.

Meanwhile Angela Parker competed in the Canterbury Parkrun, crossing the finish in an excellent 27.41 and 1st in her age category.

Four team members competed in the Folkestone Parkrun. Warren Uden stormed through the finish in fourth place overall in a fantastic time of 18.35. Jenny Phillips was fifth Lady overall in an excellent time of 24.39 (PB). Tracy Foote crossed the line in 25.43, followed by Jo Daniels 25.44 and Leon Goldsack 29.52..

Last but not least Gary Barnes took part in the Viking Coastal Marathon, consisting of four laps of a dead flat course running along the North Kent coastline from Minnis Bay to Reculver Castle and back. He completed the challenging course in an incredible time of 3.19.40 (PB) coming second in a field of 60, mainly experienced, runners, and qualifying for a Good For Age place in London Marathon next year.
