Well it is that time of year again for the Kent inter-club Summer Relays. There are 5 events, taking place on Tuesday evenings, against approximately 8 other local clubs. The distance is between 2 and 3 miles per leg. The relays really are a great team event with so much support within our club.
The relay teams are in age group categories as below:
Men’s – Senior (under 40 years), 40+ (both with 4 runners per team), 50+ and 60+ (both with 3 runners per team).
Ladies – Senior (under 35 years), 35+, 45+, 55+ (all with 3 runners per team).
There will be A & B teams competing with both teams scoring points. The B team must comprise of athletes who have not also ran with an A team on the same night. The A teams will consist of our faster runners. We may even have C & D teams too so every single club member who wants to run, can!
All you do is just turn up at the venue 30 minutes before the start time. Your teams will be arranged in advance by your team captain. Come ready to run as there are usually no changing rooms available on relays nights. Bring warm clothing – do not stand around getting cold. Car share as much as possible .
DRR would like as many of you as possible to come and take part. It really is good fun and a good speed workout. Anybody of any ability can run, so please do not get put off. It is great for team building and all is taken in good spirit.
You must be in your DRR Club Vest or T-Shirt and must be a 1st claim paid-up DRR member.
We hope you can all do at least one relay PLEASE.

Fixtures, dates and hosts are as follows:
Tuesday 22nd May 2018 – Folkestone (Marine Parade Car Park by the Old Rotunda / Harbour / Lower Leas) – hosted by Folkestone Running Club – 7.30pm start. Arrival by 7pm please.
Tuesday 29th May 2018 – Minnis Bay (Hengist Road / The Parade, Birchington, CT7 9QP) – hosted by Thanet Road Runners AC – 7.30pm start. Arrival by 7pm please.
Tuesday 12th June 2018 – Victoria Park – Ashford (Jemmet Road, TN23 4QA) – 7.30pm start. Arrival by 7pm please.
Tuesday 26th June 2018 – Samphire Hoe – Dover - 7.30pm start. Arrival by 7pm please. We always help at this one and will require 10-12 marshalls, to be on site for 6.30pm. So if anyone isn’t running or can bring family or friends to help out we would greatly appreciate it. More info to follow closer to the time.
Tuesday 10th July 2018 – Finals Night at Canterbury Track (Knight Avenue, CT2 8QA) – hosted by IEK/Canterbury Harriers – 7pm start. Arrival by 6.30pm please. Finals Night at Canterbury Track is always a great atmosphere – bring a plate for the buffet and lots of hands to help carry all our trophies home!

As mentioned at the 2018 AGM, the entry fee is covered in your annual subscription. However, to assist with outgoings, we will have a bucket at each event for an optional contribution of £1 for anyone who so wishes – this helps towards the refreshments at the end of each event.
