Great North Run 7th September 2014

Report by Claire Jones On Sunday 7th September Dover Road Runners Claire Jones, Elaine Ellender and Jenny Phillips travelled to Newcastle to take part in the Great North Run. Berlin Marathon 28/9/14

Report by Claire Jones Well I did it in 5 hours 0 minutes and 23 seconds, just under 8 minutes outside of my pb and just 24 seconds outside of a sub-5 hour time. It was a very tough race mainly because I was not feeling 100%. I couldn’t believe that after all the build up and travelling to Berlin on Thursday I had started getting head cold symptoms on the Friday evening and spent all day Saturday dosed up on all sorts of pills and potions hoping it was just an allergy and would go away. I had … [Read more...]

Le Touquet 10k 16/8/14

Report by Odette Collard-Woolmer I flew the flag for DRR on Saturday in France when I ran the Le Touquet 10k.  It was a warm sunny day and as the race was not until 1600 it was very hot by the time of the run.  The start was chaotic as there was both a 10k and half marathon event which started together and followed the same route.  There were 2000 runners in total for the 2 events with around 1200 running the 10k.  The first 4k was very congested through the narrow streets of Le Touquet … [Read more...]

The course was flat and low lying and partly runs adjacent to the shingle storm ridges on the coastal road. I did it in 1.oo.27. I came 83 out of 98 finishers. In the race it did not rain. … [Read more...]
