The Chicago Marathon – October 2018

Report by Angela Wade On 7th October 2018 Angela Wade and Stephen Lewis completed the 41st Chicago Marathon.  It was an early start and the dark morning was raining as runners made their way to Grant Park for the start.  Stephen was in the first wave which set off at 7.30 (took him 9.49 minutes to cross the line) after the national anthem was sung.  Angela was in the third wave, which started at 8.30 and it took her 12.10 minutes to cross the start line. Kent Cross Country Championships – December 2017

Report by Angela Parker On Saturday 2nd December 2017 Ian McGilloway and Angela Wade went to Dartford to take part in the Kent Veterans Cross Country Championships hosted by Dartford Harriers. The race for Ladies (all age categories), Men’s 60-69 and M70+ started at 12 noon, the race that Angela was in and the Men’s 40-49 started at 12.45 which Ian took part in. BMW Berlin Marathon – September 2017

Report by Angela Parker I woke up on the morning of the marathon before 6am and it was pouring with rain. The Friday and Saturday in Berlin had been lovely and warm days, not fair. By the time I had left the Hotel at 8am to make my way to the start at Tiergarten, it had eased to drizzle. The start area was very well set up. I cannot fault it. The LWDA 18 and 32 Mile Challenge – August 2017

Report by Angela Parker On Saturday 26th August 2017 some of the DRR members took on the 18 and 32 miles White Cliffs Challenge organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA). Despite the organiser’s name, runners were welcome and run we did. Report by Angela Parker and Elaine Ellender It is 4.30am on Sunday 6th November 2016 and we could not be more blessed with a better day for running the New York Marathon.  The morning was cool and predicted temperatures were for the mid-teens or high fifties depending on whether you prefer Celsius or Fahrenheit.  And they were not wrong.  The sun shone and the air was warm as we ran. Lots of activity over the last couple of weeks as follows: On Sunday 20th December a 19 strong team of Dover Road Runners took part in the 10th Kent Christmas Cracker  5 mile race at Fowlmead. Excellent times were recorded as below: Warren Uden finished 12th overall in a superb time of 32.09 followed by Neil Coleman in an excellent time of 37.20. Viking Coastal Relay Sunday 27th September 2015. Report by Sylvia Barrett

On Sunday 27th September members of Dover Road Runners gathered at Dover Leisure Centre ready to take part in the annual Viking Coastal Relay in memory of Esma Harris. Teams of 3 prepared to run in a relay style fashion handing over approximately every 2.5 miles from Dover to the Viking Ship at Pegwell Bay. Mike Bond and Leon Goldsack took part in the finals night of the Podplus Ashford 10k & 5k Summer Series on Friday evening, 21st August. Goldsack competed in the 10k finishing in 1.04.00. Bond chose the 5K option, crossing the line in 30.46. On Saturday Goldsack took part in the Folkestone 5k Parkrun finishing in 64th position in a time of31.49.
