Beginners to Runners

Our next Beginners course is starting on Thursday 30th March 2017

We are pleased to now offer a group for beginners.  This group is run a few times a year and consists of a 10 week programme helping you to build up from a complete beginner up to a 3-4 mile run.  For those who already run / jog short distances, we will help build up your pace and improve your over-all running ability.

The 10 week course costs £10 (payable on week 1), after which you are welcome to join Dover Roadrunners as a full member (annual membership fee of £40).  The fee all goes towards the running costs of Dover Roadrunners – all of our leaders are volunteers.  We will always have a lead coach and aim to have at least one sub coach to assist.

We meet on Thursday evenings at The Weights Room opposite Morrison’s car park at 5.45 for a 6.15 start. Walk through the gym and look out for our DRR board in the corridor by the spinning room. After registration we will drive to the seafront for the session until we are all able to run down there from The Weight’s Room.  We aim to have the session finished by 7.15 – this includes registration, running session, a cool down, and stretching then a short review and chat.

Don t worry if you can’t do all 10 sessions in a row, if you miss a week you should be able to join back in the following week.  We will set you some home-work at the end of each session, suggesting what you should be aiming to do inbetween our Thursday night sessions.

We will be using Dover’s Seafront as our training ground as it is well lit, traffic free and very beautiful, even at night.  It may be a little chilly and windy on sea front so please bring a warm top, hat and gloves if needed.  A  hi-vis item of clothing is also required for safety.  Please bring a drink too.

Over the weeks we will aim to get you fitter and help you to achieve your goals.  Our goal is to get you up to 3-4 miles then progress you in to the main club and on to some of our usual Thursday night running routes.

Advantages of being part of a club include safety, running with others will help motivate you to improve, making new friends and advice and help from our coaches and other runners. We pride ourselves on making new runners welcome.
