Folkestone Coastal 10k- Sunday 25th May by Mark Sluman

On a bright & breezy May Bank Holiday Sunday ten Dover Road Runners joined over four hundred & fifty other runners on the start line of the Folkestone Coastal 10k. Once again leading the DRR team home was Gary Husk who crossed the line in an amazing time of 38 mins and 41 seconds for a top 20 finish. Bupa London 10,000 Sunday 25th May by Claire Jones

I completed the above race today and despite only running a couple of times since the Paris marathon 7 weeks ago I somehow managed an official time PB of 56.30, 48 seconds off last year's time at the same event and my previous 10k pb. Slightly disappointed that the course proved again to be slightly long, as commented on by others too, and my Garmin recorded my time as 54.39 at 10k. London to Brighton 100k Challenge Saturday 23rd May by Phil Coleman

Mother and son team Coleman (Neil and Patricia) competed in the London to Brighton Challenge on Saturday 24th May starting at 7.20 am at The Old Deer Park Richmond in heavy rain. We started along by the Thames on the footpath, it wasn't very busy as we were stated off in sections. We decided to walk/Jog our way around. The first quarter of the route was ok as it was on roads. The rest however was off road, through extremely muddy Woods. The rain made all the off roading very hard as everywhere … [Read more...]

Littlestone Lifeboat Dash 10k – 23rd May 2014 By Angela Parker

This was an evening run starting at 7.30 and was in its fourth year.  The race started and finished at the Littlestone Lifeboat station and the course, of a multi-terrain nature, was an out and back. After the children’s race at 7.15, we all lined up at the start.  It was starting to get cold and the wind was blustery, but thankfully the rain did not make an appearance as it had done in the previous years.  We set off on the first terrain of the car parking area which was embedded shingle and … [Read more...]

Bewl Water Marathon and Half Marathon Saturday 10th May by Jo Daniels

20140510_124817

With some trepidation, Mike and I headed for Bewl Reservoir on Saturday morning to take part in the Bewl Water marathon and half marathon, an annual event organised by Hermes Running. Apart from the foul weather, heavy rain and strong winds predicted, the marathon had 'sort of crept up' on Mike so as usual he had not done much training. I had opted for the half but having just recovered from bronchitis was not expecting a good time, assuming I even made it to the finish! It was raining hard … [Read more...]
