BMW Berlin Marathon – September 2017

Report by Angela Parker I woke up on the morning of the marathon before 6am and it was pouring with rain. The Friday and Saturday in Berlin had been lovely and warm days, not fair. By the time I had left the Hotel at 8am to make my way to the start at Tiergarten, it had eased to drizzle. The start area was very well set up. I cannot fault it. There were three waves and I was in the third wave. Each wave was set by the expected time of finish and the third wave was for those finishing … [Read more...]

Angela - London Marathon 2017

Report by Angela Parker, April 2017 I was at the blue start.  I arrived about 08.30 from Orpington, where we were staying, via London Bridge.  It was a nippy morning and the start area had water as well as tea and coffee facilities.  There was a big screen relaying the morning’s events.  The only DRR member that I saw there was Gem.  I handed in my bag on the lorry and made my way to the start zone.  I abandoned my outer clothing for charity and ran across the start line 10 minutes and 43 … [Read more...]

Angela & Elaine at the New York Marathon 2016

Report by Angela Parker and Elaine Ellender It is 4.30am on Sunday 6th November 2016 and we could not be more blessed with a better day for running the New York Marathon.  The morning was cool and predicted temperatures were for the mid-teens or high fifties depending on whether you prefer Celsius or Fahrenheit.  And they were not wrong.  The sun shone and the air was warm as we ran. After breakfast in Danny’s next door to our hotel, which was the Edison on 47th and 7th, we got on the … [Read more...]
