Running Safety Reminder

When we train, the emphasis is always on safety. As a group, we ask our members to not wear headphones. Wearing headphones restricts communication with the group as well as decreases your awareness of the road. We also ask our members to ensure they wear high visibility gear when running, as this increases your visibility whilst on the road and to the other group members. October Quiz Night

Our next social event is fast approaching and it is the Quiz Night on Saturday 12th October at the Rugby Club Hall at  Crabble, Dover  at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start. Tickets will be £2 per head and there will be a bar and you can bring your own nibbles along. Teams will be a maximum of 8 people. There will be a raffle on the night too. Whitfield Hill Street Lights

With regards to the Whitfield Hill street lights, the Express recently reported that lights would be switched off between midnight and 5am each night, but it has since emerged they will be switched off completely for the next year. At least 29 people were injured, including four fatalities, on Whitfield Hill between 2000 and 2010, according to police data. Sittingbourne Chas Ryman Memorial 10

I collected my bib number and chip (and this was a funny little thing – not seen one like it before), I made my way to the school playing field.At 10.00 we were off. Viking Ship Relay

On Sunday 22nd September Dover Road Runners staged their 5th Viking Ship Relay which started at Dover Leisure Centre and finished at Pegwell Bag. This year seven teams ran the 19.5 mile course taking in Langdon Cliffs, St Margarets, Kingsdown, Deal and Sandwich Bay. Samphire Hoe Series Finals

Report by Mark Sluman Wednesday saw finals night in the Samphire Hoe Summer Series of Races. Dover Road Runners’ Annette Nixon, due to her excellent past performances in the series, was selected to run in the elite race group and despite being a little disappointed with the time she clocked, finished in a very creditable 8th position.
